Page Heatmap is designed to analyze user interactions on your web pages. By providing a container ID, the plugin generates a detailed heatmap, visually showcasing user engagement. It helps you identify hotspots and optimize your page layout for better performance and user experience.
Basic Setup
1. Input the Container ID
- Locate the ID of the container where you want the heatmap to track user interactions.
- Enter this ID in the plugin's settings to ensure it tracks the correct area.
Enable the heatmap functionality by setting show_heatmap to Yes in the settings.
Customization and Settings
Heatpoint Style
Customize how the heatpoints appear on your heatmap:
- Heatpoint Size: Adjust the size of individual heatpoints to make them larger or smaller.
- Center Color: Define the core color of each heatpoint for high-density areas.
- Mid Color: Specify the intermediate color for medium-density areas.
- Edge Color: Choose the outermost color for low-density areas.
Heatmap Settings
Fine-tune how the heatmap behaves:
Show Heatmap
- Yes: Displays the heatmap overlay on the page.
- No: Temporarily hides the heatmap.
Show Crosshair (Pointer Style)
- Yes: Displays a crosshair pointer for better visual feedback during interaction.
- No: Disables the crosshair.
Allow Heatmap Merge
- Yes: Instead of adding a new heatpoint for every interaction, it increases the count of the nearest heatpoint, making the heatmap more concise and informative.
- No: Each interaction creates a separate heatpoint.
Merge Radius
- Define the radius for calculating the distance between existing heatpoints. This determines how close interactions must be to merge.
Disable Click
- Yes: Prevents new heatpoints from being added. Useful for viewing or analyzing the heatmap without altering it.
- No: Allows new interactions to add heatpoints.
